Executive Management

Andrea Giuliani
Chief Executive Officer and President (Co-founder)
Ph.D in Biotechnology at the Università di Siena, Italy. He has a consolidate experience in biochemistry, microbiology and peptide based antiinfectives. Since the foundation of SpiderBiotech, Dr. Giuliani held positions as Chief Executive Officer and President. Under his leadership, SpiderBiotech developed a panel of novel peptide based antiinfectives and exploited the full potential of this class of molecules strenghtening the intellectual position of the Company. 

Giovanna Pirri
Chief Scientific Officer (Co-founder)
M.D. in Organic Chemistry and specialization in Polymer Science at the Politecnico of Milano, Dr. Pirri was Senior Scientist at National Council of Research and she has a consolidate knowledge in particular in peptide chemistry, in polymer chemistry, and in the development of analytical methodologies applied to diagnostics. She is a co-founder of SpiderBiotech and she joined company as Chief Scientific Officer in 2007. She is author of several publications on international and national journals, and contributions presented to international conferences. 

Luciano Stabile
General Counsel
Mr. Luciano Stabile is Vice President at Eporgen Venture S.p.A, Italy, and has over 30 years of management experience in several companies including Olivetti S.p.A., Olivetti U.S.A., FIAM S.r.l. and OMBI S.p.A.

Matteo Hary
General Counsel
Mr Matteo Hary is CEO at Filatura di Trivero S.p.A. and holds a M.S. in Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino.

Silvio Traversa
Chief Scientific Officer at Creabilis Therapeutics SpA (Ivrea, Italy)
Ph.D. in Protein Chemistry in February 1999 from the University of Torino. In February 1999, he joined Industria Farmaceutica Serono S.p.A. in Colleretto Giacosa - Ivrea (Italy) as Junior Researcher. He spent six years in the Drug Delivery Systems department at Serono, working at several project in the field of bioconjugation of peptides and proteins. He worked as Peptide and Protein Analysis Laboratory Head and as Protein Pre-Formulation Team Leader, being involved in projects regarding proteins at the Hit-to-Lead and Pre-Clinical Development stages.

Domenico Criscuolo
Chief Medical Officer at Creabilis Therapeutics SpA (Ivrea, Italy)
Graduated in Medicine at the University of Rome and got a PhD in Haematology and another one in Clinical Oncology. He started working as Clinical Research physician in 1975 at Lepetit. In 1985 he moved to Roche Italy as Head of International Clinical Research and Drug Safety, and activated Phase I-III studies in several therapeutic areas including oncology, inflammation, CNS, gastroenterology, antimicrobials and antivirals. In 2001 he moved to Novuspharma - a biotech spin off company of Roche - as Global Head of Clinical Development, and activated Phase I-III studies on four NCEs in the oncology area. From 2003 to 2006 he joined the CRO industry, as VP Regional Operations at ICON, where he established the Italian operations in Milano. He has been President of SSFA, the Italian association of pharma researchers, and President of IFAPP, the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Medicine. He is teacher at Bocconi Business School on Project management and leadership.

Angelo Conz
Senior Scientific Advisor Merck-Serono Consultant
Former Vice President of Serono, Geneva, Head of Global Product Development Unit Dermatology and New Therapies since Oct. 2002 till Dec. 2006. From 1996 to 2002 responsible of LCG Bioscience, a European network, based in London, of contract research labs and clinics in the field of drug development. General Manager of RBM from 1991 to 1996; Pathological Anatomy, Histopathology, Mutagenesis and Immunotoxicology Department Head of RBM from 1984 to 1991; Pathological Anatomy and Histopathology Department Head of Dow Chemical/Lepetit, Toxicology Center from 1971 to 1983.

Gianni Garotta
Venture Advisor at Index Ventures (Geneva, Switzerland)
Former investigator at the General Pathology Institute of the University of Milan, the Wistar Institute, the Italian National Cancer Institute (Milan, Italy) and the Basel Institute of Immunology. He was the Head of the Cytokine and Monoclonal Antibody groups at Roche (Basel, Switzerland) and the Head of Biology at Human Genome Sciences (Rockville, MD, USA). Most recently, he was the Vice President of Extramural Research and Academic Collaborations at Serono International (Geneva, Switzerland). Dr Garotta has 25 year experience in discovery and development of pharmaceutical and biological products and has been involved in numerous academic and industrial collaborations.

Daniela Jabes
Chief Executive Officer at NeedPharma Srl (Milan, Italy)   
Graduated in Biological Sicences and got a PhD in Medical Microbiology at the University of Milan, Italy. Her professional career has been fully dedicated to R&D of new antiinfective drugs and her experience and technical know-how have been crucial for the discovery, development and marketing of penems, a new class of beta-lactam antibiotics. As Senior Scientist and Head of Antibiotics Project at Farmitalia Carlo Erba, she proved significant contribution to the discovery and development of Rifabutin, a new rifamycin derivative approved for the prevention and treatment of TB. Daniela has been involved in other areas of reserch, among which: parasitic diseases, immunology, infalmmation and cancer. In 2000 she joined Biosearch Italia as VP, Medical Micorbiology, role covered also after the Company merged with Versicor to become Vicuron Pharmaceuticals. Working in close contact with the Clinical Development, she has designed and implemented the non-clinical scientific plan in support of the indications in development for three Company compunds (Ramoplanin, Dalbavancin and BI-K-0376). Daniela is author of more than 80 scientific publications and co-inventor of more than 10 patents.
